Ohhh CRIPES!!

Today, I noticed that Kirsty had added this MSN Messenger application to Facebook.

Now, if you’ve been following my application hatred, you’ll know how much I hate receiving invitations to pointless applications. So much so that I have started blocking them. I realise people don’t intentionally invite me; most applications ask if you want to invite your friends when you add the application and every time you use the application. The majority of people do send out invites because the ‘Invite’ button is more prominent than the ‘Skip’ button, and they just want to start playing with the app. I always find and press the skip button.

Don’t get me wrong; there’s some ace applications out there, but the majority of them are pointless drivel. When I do add an application — as I did tonight with the MSN Messenger app — I make sure NOT to invite any of my friends because I treat them how I want to be treated; with respect, no spam.

Once I’d added the application I saw how it worked, and it too was pointless; it just adds a little “Add me to MSN Messenger” button on your page — I already have my MSN/Hotmail address on my page, so I don’t need it. I removed the application.

So, then I do my usual check of my notifications and see this: MSN notifications

I never asked the app to invite/notify ANY of those people. Names that immediately stuck out were J.C. Hutchins and CC Chapman, and I totally panicked. I realise I’m probably making a big deal out of this, but I feel like it’s spam — being bacn, it’s pretty close.
I’m sure most people ignore stuff like this, but I take it pretty seriously. (Derek, you need to do something better with your time.)

In summary, I’m sorry to anyone whom was annoyed by the invite/notification.
